He came fast… very fast….
I’m still trying to wrap my head around how quick everything happened from labor to delivery to being home.
I had been in false labor for about 4 days prior…. On vance’s first due date ( his due date was pushed back but in my mind it was always the 17th ) I noticed the infamous mucus plug had started to come out. In my mind though it would still be a few days before labor.
Well I was wrong. I had taken a bath to de-stress and put on come keeping up with the kardashians and started to unwind then all the sudden out of nowhere some different feeling contractions starting to come, and they where coming on fast. Part of me was wanting to wait to make sure but part of me just knew this was it. I woke David up he showered we called for backup ( uncle vang ) said our goodbyes to the kiddos and set sail for the hospital!!!
By the time we had arrived to the hospital my contractions had gotten further and further apart. The OB on staff told me it was most likely not “time” and they’d watch me for a little to see. By the time he had left the room the contractions picked back up and things went from maybe to definitely within no time at all.
This was a huge relief for me as I opted for another natural unmedicated birth and my goodness nothing can prepare you for that pain haha!
4 hours total <- yes total of active labor and 2 pushes later…. David said our OB almost didn’t catch him haha! That’s how fast he flew outta there!!!
I had so many emotions running through me. Excitement to finally meet our baby boy, fear of all the what if’s of what could happen from this pandemic, and immense sadness to be away from my kids and worry they’d be safe while we where gone. The kids where not able to come meet their brother in the hospital and the thought of being away from them for 2 days broke my heart.
Fortunately we where able to opt for a 24 hour discharge at the hospital and where able to leave the very next day he was born. Essentially we high tailed it out of the hospital which I think was for the best given the situation.
I hope you all enjoy these first moments! I’m so excited to share with you all!!!
I do want to take a moment to shoutout to the PHENOMENAL staff at Morton Plant Hospital and the most amazing OB’s at A place for women who made me feel so at ease and completely normal like nothing terrible is happening in this world right now and I know for a fact they are all stressed to the max putting their lives on the line to care for their patients!! You all are amazing and so appreciated, thank you for the best possible birth experience.
***HUGE shoutout to my birth photographer David aka my hubby. You blew me away and I’m so thankful to have these memories of us meeting our last baby to cherish forever!!!
